一、 會議目的：
永續建築的起源在對應環境問題之深切了解與省思後反映出如何避免的解決之道，解決之道必須包含整體複合觀點，但是各項要素亦必須透過微觀方式清楚知悉，爾後彙整成一完整之永續建築整體觀念。而永續生態社區之建構與轉化，必須建立在對整體永續、生態、環境的基礎上，整體思考解決問題，更必需涵容生態環境之創造與確保。
本交流會之舉辦，特邀請瑞典、挪威、德國與日本四國之針對永續生態社區與建築規劃具有實質理念實踐之代表，透過思考哲學理念與實質案例說明，讓國內進行永續生態設計與規劃等相關專業人員與研究學者等，能充分瞭解目前國際趨勢與脈動，同時能藉由交流討論形式重新思考台灣永續生態規劃的新方向。
