The Daejeon Metropolitan City (DMC) and The Korea Land Corporation (KLC) are sponsoring an open, single-stage international ideas competition for the Daejeon Urban Renaissance Development.
- Competition Objective
- An idea for a master plan of Daejeon Urban Renaissance Development Area for the revitalization of the old central urban district
- Ideas Called for the Competition
- Development plan in relation with the KTX ( Korea Train Express ) and the local subway station
- Urban skyline
- Pedestrian network
- Application of the TOD (Transit Oriented Development)
- Eco-network making use of the Daedong creek
- Landmark that identifies the local character
The purpose of this competition is to invite excellent planning ideas that fit into the social and cultural context of the site. Through this international ideas competition, the promoters expect the Daejeon Urban Renaissance area to become a strategic place promoting the regional development.
- Aims of the Competition
- The competition seeks a variety of entries that suggest compelling ideas for the DaeJeon Urban Renaissance development. The selected ideas will be used in the process of formulating DJURe Renewal Development Project Plan.
- Competition Type and Language
- It is an open international competition. The official languages are English and Korean. All the official documents will be written in the official languages. All submissions are to be written only in English for the purpose of adjudication.

- An alternate juror (no voting privileges, under normal circumstances)

- At its first meeting, the jury elects its chair. A jury member who is absent at its first meeting is disqualified, and the alternate member is made a titular member. The jury decision is made by a majority vote. For a brief absence by a jury member, the alternate jury member will participate in the jury proceeding. The professional advisor assists the jury and is present at all times during adjudication but has no vote.

- - 1 entry : KRW 200,000,000 ( USD 218,341* )
- - The 1st prize winner, if with proper license for architectural design, may be given the preferential status for the negotiation for the design of one of the projects within the site, if and when the DJURe project proposal is realized.
- 2nd Prize (1 entry) : KRW 50,000,000 ( USD 54,585* )
- 3rd Prize (1 entry) : KRW 25,000,000 ( USD 27,293* )
- Honorable Mentions (5 entries) : KRW 15,000,000 ( USD 16,376* ) each
